Markets, petting farms, friends, a lizard & cattle. {Our fun & busy weekend - Spring 2015)

Last week I told you about how we had a lovely Spring week and that we had a busy weekend ahead full of lots of fun events to attend.
Well, the weekend has been and gone and I thought I would share a few (ok a few more than a few) photos of our fun weekend together.
To start off our Spring weekend Trent and I attended a Toowoomba Carnival Of Flowers event, Bites & Brews Lane - it was located in a laneway and there were markets and lots of delicious food vans and they also had craft beer for sale. LuLu spent a few hours with her Ninny & Poppa that evening while Trent and I headed out. We met up with some friends and decided to head out for dinner together, we were planning on grabbing something to eat at Bites & Brews, but it was just way too crowded. We did return after dinner to grab some churros for dessert.
Yumm... Pasta & wine - delicious!
Churros for dessert!!
On Saturday, we were up early and headed to our local farmers market. This is the first time the Toowoomba Farmers' Market was held in their new location at the show grounds. It was really good, we saw lots of lovely stalls with beautiful fresh produce. We forgot a cooler bag so we couldn't get any meat, but we picked up some spinach, potatoes, honey, hand cream and doggie treats! We also enjoyed an early lunch there at the "Picnic in the Paddock" food area - there were some really great food vendors serving up yummy food.
The next market is on Saturday the 31st of October, you can check out more details on the Toowoomba Farmers' Market Facebook page or their website HERE. It is a great event and if you are local you really should stop by!
When we returned home, Trent found a tiny little lizard. LuLu thought he was just wonderful and loved softly stroking him.
Our little lizard friend!
On Sunday we had another early start for another Toowoomba Carnival Of Flowers event, a Kids Day Out in Queens park. We went to catch up with some friends, LuLu loved walking around holding hands with her best little friend. They checked out the petting farm & we fed a goat, and then we strolled through the markets.
2 petting farms in 2 days!!
We then were on our way down to my parents farm. We brought them sandwiches & cake for lunch and I helped record the NIL numbers for the new cattle they just bought.
Trimming the horns.
Sorry for the over load of cattle pictures, I love taking photos of them!
What's a post about the farm, without a photo of my Mum's 'special' donkey ,"Donkey".
So that was our exciting and fun weekend, it was jam packed full of things to do. We don't often have such busy weekends full of events, we are always busy at home. So it was a nice change to be out & about seeing friends and going to community events.
What did you do on the weekend?
I'll be back before Friday with an exciting post about some delicious food!

A lovely Spring week... {TCOF 2015}

"Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hear to beat" - Laura Ingalls Wilder.
The weather is warming up and to celebrate we are having such a perfect "Spring" week. I don't regularly write about our adventures anymore, but I've had such a wonderful past few days I wanted to share them!
We've Spring cleaned the house, worn pretty Spring time outfits and been to visit one of the lovely parks in our town. This week in Toowoomba our town is celebrating The Carnival of Flowers. I  absolutely love this time of year, Toowoomba is full of beautiful flowers, our parks & gardens are even more stunning than normal and there are so many activities on.
This weekend we have lots of plans to attend some community events & I am so excited!
We are planning on heading to Bites & Brews Lane on Friday evening, The Toowoomba Farmers Market on Saturday morning & then on Sunday we are hoping to take LuLu to the Kids Day Out. So we have a busy, busy schedule for this upcoming weekend, but it is full of lovely plans and I am so excited about it! I love having things to look forward to.
This past few days have been flat out busy, but really great days. I love days like that!
On Sunday, Monday & Tuesday I Spring cleaned our home, using THIS list. I've pretty much completed everything inside, we just have to focus on the outside now. I am so proud that LuLu & I got so much done while Trent was working. She is such a good little helper.
I told her that Mumma needed to mop and vacuum on Tuesday so she ran & got hers!
Also this week I finished off her birthday invites and delivered them, less than 1 month until her birthday party!
Yesterday Trent started days off, so we headed to town to check out Queens Park. LuLu loved sniffing the flowers & patting them (she may have picked 1 or 2, sorry TRC & TCOF). She was also very excited to see a few "pups" & "bubbas" out enjoying the the beautiful blooms & sunshine.
I apologise in advance for the amount of flower photos which you are about to see, I am kind of obsessed with taking photos of my sweet little girl & flowers!

All photos are taken in Queens Park - Toowomba, QLD. Please do not reuse these images in anyway without my permission.
If you are local to Toowoomba or live close by I really encourage you to make an effort to come check out at least one of our beautiful parks or one of the prize winning gardens, they really are spectacular.
I dream of having beautiful gardens full of flowers, one day! I love going through the gardens pointing out to Trent what flowers I want in our "dream flower bed". He just nods. I may get to plant some flowers shortly though for LuLu, as yesterday Trent also started construction on her cubby house and I would love to plant some flowers near there so she has her own little garden. So let me know any suggestions for easy to grow bright & beautiful flowers!
I hope you are all having a lovely week and if you are out & about in Toowoomba this weekend, I might see you around!

Domestic Engineering #4 How to deep clean your Dish Washer {Finish Give Away!}

This post in sponsored by Finish. I only choose to work with brands I know and I am familiar with and personally use. Finish is a well known and reputable company, I regularly use their products, when they approached me to do a sponsored post with a giveaway for my readers I was on board. I like doing posts that highlight good products that I use and also give back to my readers! All opinions in this post are my own.
I love Spring time, it really makes me motivated to deep clean everything I own. I am slowly working my way through my Spring Cleaning check list.
Today I deep cleaned the dishwasher and yes, just like your washing machine this appliance does need to be cleaned regularly to make sure it works well and also lasts.
For the sake of this post I let mine get a little dirty... So no judging!
This is a "natural way" to clean your dishwasher.
Firstly gather your supplies;
  • White vinegar
  • Bicarb soda
  • Borax (optional)
  • A stiff scrubbing brush or old toothbrush
  • An old rag/cleaning cloth
  • Measuring cup

That's it - everything you need to give your dishwasher a good clean is probably sitting in your cupboards as you read this!
So lets do this!
  1. Open dishwasher and pull the bottom rack out to reveal the dishwasher trap.
  2. Remove the trap and open it up.
  3. Rinse the trap under hot water and try to remove any large pieces of food or rubbish.
  4. Sprinkle bicarb soda on the trap and then pour vinegar over it, it should fizz.
  5. Scrub with brush gently, until clean.
  6. Rinse again with hot water. All clean!
  7. Repeat process if you have any other parts of your dishwasher that are dirty and removable (cutlery basket etc)
  8. Replace dishwasher trap and any other pieces you removed.
  9. Wet cleaning cloth with vinegar and wipe down the dishwasher. Remembering the seals, door frame, racks, blades etc.
  10. Remove any other debris & gunk from the bottom of your dishwasher, if you find any.
  11. Remember to clean parts you normally overlook, when you half open/half close your dishwasher check the bottom ledge of the door, I found mine was very dirty. I vacuumed it and then wiped clean.
  12. Once you are happy all the parts are as clean as you can make them add 1-2 cups of white vinegar to the bottom of your dishwasher and run a full cycle. White vinegar will flush out any built up grime & help your dishwasher smell fresh!
  13. Wipe down the outside of your machine and the top of the dishwasher while the cycle runs.
  14. After the vinegar wash has completed if you want to give the machine an extra clean, you can do a bicarb soda wash, where you sprinkle 1 cup of bicarb soda (or borax) on the bottom of your dishwasher and once again run a full cycle. This cycle will polish your machine. Baking/bicarb soda is a wonderful cleaning product. It can eliminate odours, remove built up grease and help whiten stains.
  15. Repeat. Clean your dishwasher monthly. Alternating each month between a vinegar & bicarb soda cycle will keep your dishwasher running like new!
    Dishwasher trap, before and after.
    Dishwasher, all sparkly clean!
Now if those steps are too much effort for you, Finish has a wonderful dishwasher cleaner that can be used monthly to freshen up your dishwasher. It cleans your whole machine in 1 cycle. Easy!
On the topic of Finish this is also the brand we use & I recommend for dishwasher tablets and also rinse aid. It is important to use a quality product in your machine and I find Finish to be very reliable and I never have to rewash dishes after using this product.
